Welcome to GES's Staff Wiki! This wiki will be a place for professionals to access important information, such as weekly bulletins, schedules, a yearly calendar, as well as forms. In addition to enabling GES's staff to conveniently locate important information, it will also enable us to add to our collective learning. You'll find videos that may make you think, articles to reflect on, and the voices of your colleagues added to discussion formats. Please take advantage of this opportunity to "work smarter, not harder".
Monday Notes May 21-25, 2018
Chris will be TIC on Monday and Tuesday. Hope you all have a great last Monday and Tuesday of the school year with kids!
Here is a document to indicate if you would like JLMS moving help on May 30th. If you prefer to pack without help, that is okay and those who are able to help can work in common areas if needed (library, office, book room, etc.).
If you are a CT3 or a NT1 or NT2, please sign up for an SLO conference so that we can discuss progress your targeted students made throughout this year. Please try to fit in a conference the week of May 21st (although conferences are not available Monday or Tuesday of that week). If we need the following week (May 28th), it will need to be when you are working around other scheduled times. Thanks!
Our traditional awards assembly will take place on May 25th at 1:30 in the afternoon. Please review this agenda and update it based on most recent plans. Keep a copy with you as we will want to move quickly from one grade level to the next to keep our kids engaged! Thanks!
Here is information regarding Learning Based Compensation offerings forthis summer:
4 hours of planning time for full grade level teams (3-5) will be available for curriculum pay to accomplish initial planning of content including social studies, science, and integrated studies. Connect with your teammates about which date you might want to pick from.

Moving Day: District paying Coakley Brothers Moving Company to move classroom spaces into storage trailers.
Workers will be on hand to move items, along with us. Workers will move objects that are very heavy.
Some information re: moving:
Make a discard pile along with the boxes you intend on being moved to the new location. The things that should be discarded should be labeled accordingly. Now that you know your room numbers, you can use the correct labels along with the room number to place on boxes to be moved. Please mark large furniture with labels on the underside so as not to damage the top side of furniture. You do NOT need to move boxes or take garbage to the dumpster. That will be handled by our maintenance staff beginning April 27th and through the weekend. \
On Friday, May 25th and through that weekend, the IT department will be collecting technology devices and peripherals including phone. They ask that you NOT take things apart (unhooking computer cords, hook-ups, etc.) as they will manage that through a systematic approach. They have to program devices with new room numbers, locations, etc. Because they will be collecting devices once students are done, you will NOT have phones, desktop computers the few PD days you'll continue into the next week. In that case, you may use your laptops, IPADs, and Chromebooks that will be available from IT.
A new idea is being explored that will eliminate the use of area rugs that need to be continuously cleaned. At the Hoffmann meeting that took place today, a discussion was begun to explore an area that will be "created" from carpet tiles that are permanently configured into the installed carpet in FRONT of the SmartBoard. That way there are areas that can be structured for specific seating but that don't require an area rug on top of the actual room carpet. This is in the PLANNING stage for K-3 classrooms now. There is thought that 4th/5th grade classes do not use area rugs in the same way or need such structured areas if sitting on the floor.
Here is a picture of how it could look (not necessarily circles):
We can get more boxes when we need them. If we run short on a particular size of box, please tell Jean. She can work with Topher to order the appropriate quantity of the specific size of box...S, M, L, XL.
Boxes are available and an equal number of boxes will be provided to each teacher. Not all boxes need to be uniform as was originally planned but please use boxes that are distributed to you. Packing tape is in the office to be used as you pack. There is not enough to give a roll to each teacher, however. Packing procedures, including labeling specifics, will be available on April 27th. As I understand it, storage pods will also be available by April 27th, and maintenance staff will move packed boxes to pods, but please confirm when Mr. Nelson is available for questions. If you begin to pack prior to April 27th, any box you pack will need to be stored in your room as there is no room for storage in the building prior to pods being available. The morning of April 27th will be devoted to packing and help will be available from middle school staff, I believe. The afternoon will be dedicated to meeting with 2018-19 teams to review scheduling and potential class lists.
If you would like a copy of next year's approved calendar, here is a copy.
